Anari is a romantic film of 1975 directed by Asit Sen starring Sharmila Tagore and Shashi Kapoor. Music composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal
The story is about two sweethearts, Raj (Shashi Kapoor) and Poonam (Sharmila Tagore) who live in extreme poverty. While Raj has to provide for his family and also arrange for his sister’s marriage, Poonam is fighting her own battle to earn for her ailing mother and handle a father who is drunkard and lives off her earnings. Raj is offered a job that takes him away into another world of wealth and both reach a situation where they gain freedom to choose their own lives against their moral decisions.
