This movie is directed by K.A.Abbas. a psychological drama film starring Nargis in a dual role, Raj Kapoor and Achla Sachdev. Nargis got critical acclaim for this film and was released in 1952.
The film is about two sisters Mohini and Roop(Nargis) one legitimate and one illegitimate. As the years go by, Roop falls in love with Adv. Rajkumar Saxena (Raj Kapoor) a tenant with her father. She falls in love with him when he visits her home to pay the rent. After a few months of romance, they plan to marry.
Her family decides to organise a party to formally announce their marriage. Raj Kumar during their courtship bumps into Mohini , her twin(Nargis) sister . Mohini is upset as she is the real daughter where as Roop is the illegitimate. Roop comes to know the truth and swaps her place with Mohini and Raj Kumar ends up marrying Mohini. Roop’s father comes to know and dies of shock.
