Ravi Kumar, played Irrfan Khan works at a plastic company as a salesman. He is tensed about his fragile marriage to Padmini, played by Shobhana and his autistic son Buddhi. The fact that Buddhi is intellectually handicapped, ahs put even more pressure on their marriage. One day Ravi watches Dr Sathya’s interview on TV where he mentions about a drug that can cure a person’s mental issues. Ravi is intrigued and goes right away to meet Dr Sathya, played by Anupam Kher to get the medicine for Buddhi. After injecting him with the drug, Buddhi becomes intellectually smart and can do things that most other children can do and more. He wins a very prestigious quiz contest and is given the title of ‘Aryabhatta’.
Buddhi gains immense intellectual capabilities but he becomes arrogant and rude. He becomes popular in his school but is harsh with his words. He is later diagnosed with dissociative personality disorder, where Aryabhatta is violent. Meanwhile Dr Sathya is said to connections with the underworld and goes into hiding. Padmini and Ravi seek him to get an antidote for his son’s condition. He later apologizes to the couple for ruining their son’s life. After injecting the antidote Buddhi becomes his normal self again and starts to paint.
The movie is directed by Kaushik Roy and produced by Umang Pahwa. The music is composed by Lesle Lewis.
