Two brother who are well known lawyers get married to Siddheshwari and Sheela respectively. Sheela takes care of the household activites and ensures everything runs smoothly while Siddheshwari is an affectionate and lovable lady who lets peace and love prevail in the house. They have a mutual understanding living together under one roof. Things however take an ugly turn when the other brother Harish and his wife Nayantara joins the household. Sheela is accused of misusing assets and she along with her husband Chandar are humiliated and asked to leave the house. The film is directed by Basu Chatterjee and produced by Mushir Riaz. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The star cast includes Amol Palekar, Girish Karnad, Shabana Azmi, Utpal Dutt, Asha Lata, Bharti Achrekar and Maneesha.
