Deepak is a well known musician and lives with his father
Ramesh. The latter insists that he marry his friend’s daughter
Asha but Deepak tells him that he is in love with one of his fans
named Jyoti living in Kashmir. Deepak then promises Jyoti that
he will soon get her and her father out of debt by repaying it
all. He visits her in Kashmir but when he comes back home he
is shocked to find that his father has committed suicide as he
has gone bankrupt. Ramesh wants Deepak to care for his
second wife and her daughter. Deepak is now unable to repay
the loans of Jyoti. When he goes to visit her, Jyoti’s father lies to
him that she is already married to the creditor.
A shocked Deepak then agrees to marry his dad’s friend’s
daughter Asha, who got him out of bankruptcy. One day at a
function Deepak runs into Jyoti and comes to know that she is
not married and that her father had lied to her. Jyoti tells
Deepak that she is expecting his child but he must be a loyal
husband to Asha. She then befriends Asha and two become
friends. Asha however learns that Deepak and Jyoti were
former lovers and decides to sacrifice her love. The film is
directed by Dasari Narayan Rao and produced by Kovai
Chezhiyan. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The
star cast includes Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, Reena Roy, Madan
Puri, Asrani, Om Shivpuri.
