Shamsher Singh lives with his widowed mother and sister Asha in British India. He makes his livelihood through crime. He is deeply in love with Reshma who is a gypsy dancer but has to fight off Jagga who is also her suitor. Jagga gets Shamsher falsely arrested by the corrupt British and he is beaten and tortured. When the British finally exit India, Shamsher is released from prison and takes his revenge by killing Jagga. He then finds Reshma in a distraught condition dancing for strange men in a club and convinces her to come home. Soon his sister Asha falls in love with Shamsher’s aid Vijay but he is not happy about it. His mother however approves of the union only if he gets a good job. Thus Vijay joins the police force. Things take a turn for the worse, when Vijay and Shamsher confront each other as a police and criminal.
The film is directed and produced by Mukhtar Ahmed. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and the story is written by K K Shukla. The screenplay is written by Mukhtar Ahmed. The star cast inludes Shatrughan Sinha,Aditya Pancholi, Anita Raaj, Tom Alter and Anjan Srivastava.
