Avishkar is a 1974 film produced and directed by Basu Bhattacharya. Starring in the film are Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore .
Amar (Rajesh Khanna) and Mansi (Sharmila Tagore) are in love with each other and have a blissful courtship period and soon get married and have a child before their second anniversary.
The story is about a life of a couple typical in a metro city and their child. Amar being from an advertising background has long working hours and both of them are so involved with their respective lifestyle the couple loses out on their romance and even forget their anniversary. The two who were in love with each other gradually seem to drift away from each other, finding faults in each other. Both had not wished each other for the wedding anniversary and the entire night they were indifferent to each other. The film is shot just for the entire night to show the differences that has cropped up between the young couple but the next morning when Mansi wakes up to go and pick up the milk from her door she sees the flowers that was picked up by Amar for her on their anniversary. Both hug each other in the morning realizing their mistake. A typical story of a man and his wife in a normal circumstance.
