Advocate Jayant is hard working and takes his job very seriously. He has defended many people, many who are innocent and many who are guilty. He however has a motto of letting them all free regardless of what their crime might be. This gets him into trouble with his close friend, police officer Amit, who arrests gangster Mulchand’s gang of smugglers. Jayant however, very cleverly gets them all out on bail. Amit warns Jayant that this will cost him big some day and he must be more responsible. Amit get brutally murdered after a few days. One day Jayant’s sister Priya and wife Anu while on the way to a picnic get nabbed by a drunkard who is gangster Mulchand’s son. He rapes Anu and injures Priya. Anu loses her sanity and commits suicide. Jayant is devastated and tries to find the culprit with Mulchand’s help but he refuses to help him. Soon his daughter is kidnapped and he is asked to bail out Mulchand’s son for a crime. Left with no choice, he bails him out but later comes to know that he is culprit who raped his wife. Jayant now swears revenge and brings all the criminals to justice one by one. The film is directed and produced by Shakti Samanta. The star cast includes Rajesh Khanna, Rakesh Roshan, Suresh Oberoi, Jayaprada, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri, Monty, Amrish Puri, Supriya Pathak and Leena Das.
