Amar Kumar is an honest Indian Army officer living with his mother and freedom fighter father Ram. Ram is not interested in joining the Indian administration like many of his friends and counterparts have and prefers to live a life of solitude and peace. Amar is however offered a job as a personal secretary to Jagrathan. Jagrathan’s son Surender is unfortunately killed and he is furious. He threatens to expose the secrets unless the truth behind his son’s murder isn’t disclosed. He too unfortunately dies in a road accident. Before he breaths his last he gives a key to Dr. Shabnam and asks her to deliver it to Amar and she does. But they have no idea which lock it fits into.
Shabnam is however attacked and abducted but saved by Amar. Turns out that someone has wrongly implicated him and he is court-martialed and asked to leave the Indian Army. A humiliated Amar than becomes an outlaw and joins forces with the evil ones. The film is directed and produced by B R Chopra. The music is composed by Ravi and screenplay is by Rahi Masoom Raza. The star cast includes Rajesh Khanna, Raj Babbar, Ashok Kumar, Smita Patil, Poonam Dhillon, Iftekhar, Nana Patekar, Shafi Inamdar, Shreeram Lagu, Saeed Jaffrey, Vijay Arora, Satish Shah, Rajesh Puri, Dalip Tahil and Manisha.
