Baabul is directed by Ravi Chopra, the film released in 2006 starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini , Salman Khan, John Abraham and Rani Mukherji is an adaption of the Telugu film Premabhishekam. A story about the bond between father and son and father-in-law and daughter-in-law.
Balraj Kapoor(Amitabh Bachchan) is a rich business tycoon happy and contented with his wife Shobna (Hema Malini) and son Avinash (Salman Khan). A Happy go lucky man who joins his father’s business . Both father and son decide to go golfing one day and bump into Milli (Rani Mukherji) an artist who is painting on the golf course. Avi and Milli start dating each other and get married and have a son Ansh, who is doted by the grand parents. However in an most unfortunate accident , Avi dies leaving a devastated Milli . Balraj decides to bring back happiness into his widowed daughter-in-law’s life much against the wishes of his wife and his elder brother who is conservative. Balraj pursues Milli’s best friend Rajat(John Abraham) who is actually in love with her to marry Milli and restart a fresh life together. Balraj stand firm to convince his conservative brother Balwant(Om Puri) and Shobna (Hema Malini) who is against this marriage with a fear of losing her grandson Ansh . The film ends on a happy note with Milli’s re-marriage to Rajat while in Avinash comes in as a spirit to bless his father for doing this for his Milli and bringing back happiness in her life once again.
