The film is based on the exploitation women face in India, especially the ones in the rural areas. The story is about a girl from the Bedhiya community in Bundelkhand region, where their community is known for singing and dancing. It is called ‘Rai’. A girl called Madhu wants to change the age old shackles of tradition and bring change into society through education. Despite of all her protests, she is still married off to a boy called Rajjan, from the same village, who has a crush on her. The film then highlights her fight for rights and all the challenges that life brings her.
The film is directed by Arvind Tripathi and produced by K K Mundhada and Piyush Mundhada. The music is composed by Nikhil Kamath, Altaf Sayyed and Umesh Tarkaswar. The screenplay is written by Nazir Qureshi, Masood Mirza and Arvind Tripathi. The star cast includes Rajpal Yadav, Bharti Sharma, Sudha Chandran, Yashpal Sharma, Mohan Joshi, Rakesh Bedi, Milind Gunaji, Heena Panchal and Kiran Sharad.
