Najma and Akhtar are in love and want to soon get married but
he insists that he needs to be financially independent before
doing that. Meanwhile she keeps getting letters from her family
for over 6 years and she hasn’t read even one of them. The
reason being that they had betrayed her by asking her to sell
her body to earn money. Being Nawabs, working would bring
shame to the community and thus selling oneself is better.
Ankhtar was one of her admirers and now they plan to get
married. Meanwhile Akhtar tells her that Shakir Khan will be

helping them set up business and will be staying with them in
their flat. She is uncomfortable with the idea, but he tells her
that the flat was given by Shakir and they would have to
accommodate him.
When Shakir meets Najma he hints that he would like to marry
a woman like her some day. So he asks her to search a bride for
him from her hometown. Soon NAjma goes to her hometown
and starts looking for brides and is appalled by the sight of
poor families displaying their young girls like commodities for
marriage. Meanwhile Sarju and Shabnam are in love and hope
to get married soon. When at a party Shakir Khan sees
Shabnam he asks his father to get her married to him and he
agrees. This breaks Sarju’s heart. On the wedding night Shakir
