Dharam, played by Ranveer Singh is in a on again off again relationship with Shyra, played by Vaani Kapoor after they meet at a party in Paris. Initially, Dharam and Shyra decide to have a live-in relationship and are very happy to have each other around and their love is all blossoming. However, they start arguing and fighting about lots of things as the days pass and eventually decide to break up and go their separate ways.
Meanwhile, Shyra starts dating Aney, played by Arrmaan Ralhan and Dharam starts dating a French model called Christine. They both keep bumping into each other and realize what they are missing but decide to stay friends. Aney proposes marriage to Shyra but she asks Dharam for his advice. Dharam realizes he still has feelings for her but advises her to go ahead with the marriage and is hearbroken
Eventually at the sangeet ceremony where Dharam and Shyra perform they realize they love each other and decide to elope and get married. Befikre is directed by and produced by Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Vishal-Shekhar and Mikey McCleary.
