Bemisaal released in 1982 directed and produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, starring Amitabh Bachchan in dual roles as Dr. Sudhir Roy and Adhir Roy.
One of Amitabh Bachchan’s best double role films where in he plays the role of two brothers, elder and younger. Adhir Roy( Elder brother Amitabh Bachchan) is confined to a mental asylum as he has a painful past that leaves a deep impact on his mind and he loses his sanity when he was wrongly accused of having raped his girl student . Her father had whipped him and set mad dogs on him for revenge. The incident left deep scars and he lands himself in the asylum. His younger brother Dr. Sudhir Roy (Amitabh Bachchan younger) takes it upon him as a mission to find the girl who wrongly accused his brother and wants to pay back in the same way .
Dr. Sudhir Roy(Amitabh Bachchan) as an orphan being brought up by Dr Prashant Chaturvedi(Vinod Mehra)’s fatherr who treats him like his own son. Both become doctors and fall in love with Kavita Goel(Rakhee) whom they meet at a hill station. When Dr. Sudhir realises that his friend Dr. Prashant is also in love with Kavita, he takes a back seat and lets their bond of friendship blossom. Kavita comes to know of his sacrifices and wants to marry him but Dr. Sudhir tells her off , he cannot marry her as his elder brother is a pschyatric patient. Kavita and Prashant marry and he leaves for higher studies in America. While Dr. Sudhir stays on to take care of Prashant’s father and Kavita.
After he returns, Dr. Prashant gets involved with illegal abortions and becomes a corrupt doctor and gets entangled in a legal case. Dr. S udhir takes the blame on himself and ends up in the jail to save his best friend. The film ends with Dr. Sudhir serving his 9 year imprisonment and he loses his medical registration. After completion of his sentence he is welcomed by Prashant and Kavita along with their young son who have come to take him home.
