Anand Kumar is a diligent and honest police officer who loves Maya and plans to marry her soon. Their whirlwind romance is brought to a standstill when out of the blue Maya confesses that she is marrying another man and disappears from Anand’s life. A shocked and heartbroken Anand drowns himself in his work and police duties to forget Maya and her deceit. Then one day he comes to know that she has turned into a courtesan. Unable to control himself, he goes to confront her and comes to know that she is married to an abusive man who tortures her everyday. Just when her husband returns to attack them both, Anand accidentally kills him. Wanting to keep Maya away from the murder he asks her to leave the place and he being a protector of law hides from it. Meanwhile inspector Chander who looks up to Anand investigates the murder. The film is directed by R Jhalani and produced by K D Shorey. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The star cast includes Sanjeev Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Mala Sinha, Reena Roy, I S Johar, Kader Khan, Keshto Mukherji, Viju Khote, Dev Kumar and Urmila Bhatt.
