Mohit, played by Ayushmann Khuranna gets promoted from junior to senior executive and takes his girlfriend Mayera, played by Sonam Kapoor to celebrate, where he also proposes marriage to her. Mayera’s father V.K Sehgal, played by Rishi Kapoor is however not very thrilled about this development. He doesn’t think Mohit will provide well for his daughter and needs a better paying job. He later learns from some sources that Mohit has lost his job but Mayera has no clue and lies to him that his job is safe.

Meanwhile Mayera sends a list of vacancies to Mohit. He goes for the interviews but gets rejected everywhere. He gets calls from several places to return money or pay off debts. Unable to pay he requests Mayera to give him Rs 50,000. He uses it up but when he asks Mayera for payments to be made for his apartment she refuses. He sells his car and returns all her money and they break up.

Left with no choice, Mohit gets a smaller apartment and starts working at a café. Meanwhile Mayera is offered a Dubai transfer and she goes there for a week to check it out. She returns and tells her dad how nice the place is etc. V.K then goes to Mohit’s café and tells him that Mayera is moving to Dubai. Mohit comes to their house and asks to speak with her but VK refuses and insults him.        MAyera intervenes and tells her dad to stop humiliating him as she still loves him and they both decide to marry.
