Ishwar is brought up in a wealthy home where he lives with his widowed mother, two brothers, their wives and a sister. His brother’s wife Janki proposes that Ishwar should marry her cousin as she will be ideal for him. However he is already in love with a girl named Shanti who comes from a poor household. His mother does not agree to the marriage. However the two lovers go to the registrar’s office and get married. When they arrive at Ishwar’s house, his family is hostile towards them. This makes them leave the house and live on their own. Meanwhile Shanti gets pregnant and gives birth to a boy. Soon Ishwar is unable to handle the pressure of taking care of the family as he is used to living a lavish lifestyle. This makes him frustrated and bitter. One day he has a horrific accident and is hospitalized. When he returns he is devastated to know that his son has passed away from an ailment. He removes his anger on Shanti at every given opportunity and soon leaves home and goes back to his mother’s house. The film is directed by Sisir Mihsra and produced by K K Arya. The music is composed by Jugal Kishore. The star cast includes Raj Babbar, Deena Pathak, Smita Patil, Sulabha Deshpande, Asit Sen, Jagdeep, Jasbir Sumal, Jawahar Kaul, Lakshmi Chhaya, Leela Mishra, Master Romi, Nandita Thakur and Suresh Chatwal.
