Bioscopewala is an drama film directed by Deb Medhekar and is produced by Sunil doshi starring Danny Denzongpa and Geetanjali Thapa in the lead roles . The world premier was held in Tokyo for the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival on 28th October 2017.
The story is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s short story Kabuliwala and was released on 25th May 2018 . The film however has changed the profession of the central character Rehmat to a dry fruit seller from the original , the man who shows the children the films through his bioscope.
In this film Rehmat Khan ( Danny Denzongpa) is from Kabul and meets a little girl called Minnie who is the same age as his little daughter who one disappears. Many years later Minni is shown as the documentary film maker living in France and she comes to know about her father who she believes has died in a plane crash on his way to Afghanistan. She comes to do a research why her father had to travel to Afghanistan and comes across Bioscopewala who used to tell her stories when she was a little girl.
The film is directed by Deb Medhekar with music composed by Sandhesh Shandilya and screen play is also by Deb Medhekar and Radhika Anand adapted from the original film Kabuliwala. Starring along with Danny Denzongpa in the lead role as Rehmat Khan the film has Geetanjali Thapa , Adil Hussain, Tisca Chopra and Brijendra Kala in prominent roles.
