Gul Mohammed is nabbed by the Nav Pada police in Mumbai on 9th March 1993 and after a series of interrogations confesses to the police that there is a major conspiracy to bomb the city at different locations. However, the police don’t pay heed to his confessions and dismiss them thinking he is just bluffing. But three days later the city comes to a standstill will multiple explosions around the city at various locations with 257 people dead and around 1400 severely injured. On further investigations, the police learn that the bombs were made with RDX that was illegally smuggled into the city with the collaboration with some customs officials and cops.
Tiger Memon who is a dreaded underworld mafia don has his office burned down during the riots and in revenge he decides to bomb the city of Mumbai. Officer Rakesh Maria is put on the case and he arrest Tiger Memon’s secretary Asgar who is beaten and tortured to reveal what he knows of the bomb blasts. Later Badshah Khan one of his henchmen who gets no support from them decides to become the police witness.
In November 1993, the police file a charge sheet where 189 people are named accused. The CBI meanwhile takes over the case and Tiger’s brother Yakub Memon surrenders and provides the police with information that his brother and his underworld aids were responsible for the Bombay blasts.
The movie is directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Arindam Mitra. The Star cast includes Kay Kay Menon, Pavan Malhotra, Aditya Shrivastava, Imtiaz Ali, Pratima Kazmi and Zakir Hussain.
