Blackmail a comedy film directed and co-produced by Abhinay Deo, starring Irrfan Khan, Kirit Kulhari, Arunoday Singh and Divya Dutta in the leading roles in produced under the banner of T.Series Films and RDP Motion Pictures.
Blackmail portrays the life of a married man in late 30’s who is a sales executive selling toilet papers who is stuck in a full time job and a very unexciting life but the turn of events. He steals pictures of women who are wives of other men for his personal fulfillment.
One day he decides to surprise his wife Reena (Kirti Kulhari) and arrives earlier from the office than his usual time with flowers and is in for a shock to find his wife is in bed with another man Ranjit, also called ‘Tommy’ (Arunoday Singh with whom she has an extra marital affair. Ranjit is a hen pecked husband of Dolly (Divya Dutta) and has an influential father whom Ranji is scared of .
Dev takes this opportunity to blackmail him with consequences of sleeping with his wife and demands. Dev blackmails Ranjit for a sum of Rs. 1 lakh . Ranjit making an excuse with his wife Dolly and asks for the 1 lakh stating he wants to start his new business.
Irrfan as the estranged husband gives a solid performance as always, intense as the average office going man who cannot forgive his unfaithful wife and with a straight face plots and plans the blackmail.
Arunoday Singh as the tracksuit bad boy while Kriti Khulari as the philandering wife looks good . Diya Dutta known for her character roles is convincing as the dominating and drunken wife,
The film released on April 6th 2018 unfold with events with ease and is wickedly romantic with a mix of black humour with some gory details.
