Divya, played by Kareena Kapoor has goons assigned to kill her to take revenge from her father who is a wealthy and successful politician. Her father hires a bodyguard names Lovely, played by Salman Khan to protect her at all times. The problem is, Lovely takes his job way too seriously and follows Divya everywhere which has begun to annoy her. She hatches a plan with her friend Maya, played by Hazel Keech to distract him.
Divya phones Lovely, pretending to be some girl called Chhaya who is madly in love with him. After a few initial doubts, he falls bait to the plan and starts believing Chhaya to be truly in love with him and decides to meet her.
Meanwhile, Divya’s father thinks that Lovely and his daughter are having an affair and sends his men to kill him. Divya sensing trouble sends Maya in her place. Lovely doesn’t give Maya a chance to explain herself and flees with her on a train and they both get married and have a son.
A heartbroken Divya soon realizes that she truly loved Lovely and moves on with her life. Maya dies after a few years from an illness and this reunites Lovely and Divya.
Bodyguard is directed by Siddique and produced by Atul Agnihotri and Alvira Khan Agnihotri with music composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Pritam.
