Before being hanged Zainab, played by Humaima Malick tells the ordeal that brought her to this juncture. There on the movie goes into flash back where Zainab tells the jailor she was one of the six sisters living with her mother and father. Her father, Hakim, played by Manzar Sehbai, disliked daughters and wanted a son who could financially help the family with employment since he didn’t believe in girls going out to work.
Zainab’s mother gives birth to an intersex child named Saifi but her father hates him and doesn’t acknowledge him. She has several pregnancies thereafter but all the babies turn out dead. Seeing her mother’s plight Zainab helps her mother get a tubal ligation which infuriates her father on knowing.
A local brothel owner, Saqa comes to Hakkim one day and requests to teach his children Quran for which he offers to pay money that is kept at the mosque. Reluctantly Hakim agrees because he needs the extra money. One day Saifi gets raped and his father overhears him telling his ordeal to his mother and Zainab. While asleep Hakim kills Saifi by suffocating him.
Zainab unable to bear her father’s cruelty and injustice one day kills him and is arrested.
