The film is directed by Ramanathan, produced by N.C. Sippy starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aruna Irani, Shatrughan Sinha, Anwar Ali, Mehmood, released on 3rd of March 1972.

The film Bombay to Goa is a comedy film with emotions, adventures and romance.  The entire film is a journey from Bombay to Goa by bus.   A remake of the Tamil film ‘Madras to Pondicherry’ made in 1966.  In the bus there are different kinds of people from various walks of life but the story moves on with Mala’s (Aruna Irani) parents arranging her marriage with Ramlal’s (Agha) son but are shocked to see her pictures in the magazine.  Mala wants to be a film actress and trusts two goons Sharma(Shatrughan Sinha) and Verma( Manmohan)  Greed overtakes between the two and one of them is killed during their fight for which Mala is a witness. To avoid them she runs away from home not realising her parents concern. She takes the bus from Bombay to Goa and during the journey she meets  Ravi Kumar (Amitabh Bachchan). The journey is adventurous with the bus passengers being from different places and religions, cultures, faiths thrown together. The bus driver is Rajesh (Anwar Ali) and the conductor is Khanna (Mehmood).  A hilarious bus journey that ends with a few scuffles between Verma and Ravi Kumar. The film ends with Mala and Ravi Kumar falling in love.

Bombay to Goa was Amitabh Bachchan’s big break and the beginning of his illustrious career in the film industry over the span of 4 decades or more.
