Budhia Singh was born in a home filled with extreme poverty. The living conditions were scarily low and they had hardly nay money left to eat a decent meal even once a day. Under these severe circumstances, Budhia’s mother takes the drastic step of selling the four year old child to a peddler for a mere Rs. 800. A local judo coach named Biranchi, played by Manoj Bajpayee notices Budhai’s zest for life even at that young an age. He observes and sees how fast the child can run.
Birachi thus decides to take Budhia under his wing and coach him. The 4 year old manages to run Bhubaneshwar to Puri, covering 65 kilometers in only 7 hours and the coach is amazed. However, making a little child run so much at such a tender age, makes Biranchi face considerable backlash. The news spreads about his running feats and an inquiry is done by the government, thus banning a little child from running so much.
Budhia’s coach feels its better to die running than with poverty and hunger, thus he argues that if a child has this kind of skill and potential why not put it to use. Budhia Singh is known to be the wonder child from Odisha. The movie is directed by Soumendra Padhi and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Code Red Films.
