Avinash, played by Anil Kapoor is a worried man as he is looking for his only child, a son in Calcutta. He struggles to get through his days, especially when he gets unwanted attention from strangers. His only clue is a phone number which he gets from a police officer before he left for Calcutta. He desperately looks of his son but doesn’t get any leads. Meanwhile he needs a place to stay and comes across a room, which already seems to be occupied by someone else. This someone else is Reema aka Bulbul, played by Rani Mukerjee, who is a novelist. Repeated requests fail to convince Bulbul to leave.
Thus Avinash ends up sharing the room with Bulbul, although he sleeps outside. His mannerisms and soft spoken nature melts Bulbul’s heart and she falls in love with Avinash. Meanwhile he has flashbacks of his past, where his wife Sanjana, played by Manisha Koirala and son lived happily. However Avinash witnesses a crime and comes to the aid of the victim and takes him to the hospital. This angers the criminals and they kill Sanjana and abduct his child. He thus embarks on a journey to find his son to Mumbai in the Calcutta Mail.
The movie is directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt, Allu Aravind and Mukesh Udeshi. The music is composed by Anand Raj Anand.
