Adil, played by Arjun Rampal is a tough police officer posted at Nandighat. His efforts of brining peace and order in the region are foiled by the Maoist leader Rajan, played by Manoj Bajpayee. Adil’s trusted friend Kabir, played by Abhay Deol hatches the plan to destroy the Maoist group. He decides to infiltrate their gang while becoming an informer of Adil. Reluctantly Adil agrees to his plans.
Their plan seems to work when 63 Naxals are killed along with two top leaders and Rajan is captured by the police. The rural people in the village however are still suffering due to lack of water, food and their houses are displaced as a result of big companies constructing profitable business at the cost of the poor. Kabir starts sympathizing with the Naxals when he sees their true plight. He falls in love with a young naxal girl Juhi, played by Anjali Patil.
Now Kabir faces a huge dilemma of whom to support. He is torn between helping his friend and the Indian government get rid of the Naxalites forever or help the naxalites themselves who are suffering, helpless and isolated by all. The movie is directed and produced by Prakash Jha and Sunil Lulla. The music is composed by Salim-Sulaiman, Aadesh Shrivastava, Shantanu Moitra, Vijay Verma and Sandesh Shandilya.
