Vidya, played by Shabana Azmi and Jyoti, played by Juhu Chawla are two dedicated teachers who have a passion and love for teaching kids. They develop a great bond with their students and each other as well. They are overjoyed when they see their students scoring good marks and gaining respectable moral values.
In a strange turn of events, a new school principal, Kamini Gupta, played by Divya Dutta gets appointed. She has a malicious side to her and changes the entire admistrative functioning of the school. The change she demands, is very troublesome and causes a lot of friction between her and the present teachers. The chairs from the classroom are removed, tea is no longer served free and the overweight Hindi teacher is asked to conduct physical training classes, interfering with the smooth dynamics of the school.
Feeling cornered and stressed with her unjust removal, senior teacher Vidya has a heart attack. Jyoti decides to take matters in her own hands by using TV as a medium to solve the problem and by talking to the Board of Trustees. With no hope in sight, after Vidya recovers, she and Jyoti take part in the reality show ‘Who Wants To be a Millionaire’ on TV. The head of the trustee gives them the ultimatum of winning the rpize money of 5 Crore of accepting termination from school. With their vast knowledge and talent, both the teachers win the show and Kamini later apologises to them on TV.
