Basanti, played by Sushmita Sen is a prostitute, with a daughter named Titali. She has been through many hardships and challenges in her life to bring up her daughter and make ends meet for them both. One day a new young post man gets recruited in the village by the name of Chandan, played by Anuj Sawhney. He learns about Basanti and her suffering and feels nothing but sympathy for her. He befriends her and her daughter Titali. They confide in Chandan about their struggles. He tries his best to help them in whatever way he can.
Meanwhile, the village priest Bhuvan Panda, played by Mithun Chakraborty is a regular client of Basanti and has a fetish for sadism. Chandan announces that he wants to marry Basanti to give her and Titali a better and respectable life. But Bhuvan objects to the marriage. He plans to kill Basanti and when Chandan tries to save her he gets killed. Basanti is meanwhile waiting to tie the knot but when Chandan doesn’t show up she feels cheated and goes back into prostitution. She soon learns about what happened to Chandan and attacks the temple with a few villagers and kills Bhuvan.
The movie is directed and produced by Kalpana Lajmi and Vikas Sahni. The music is composed by Aadesh Shrivastava.
