Dinanath is a well-respected school teacher and is looked up by all his seniors. He lives with his wife, son Kundan and daughter Shanti. He writes and publishes a book called Daata, in which he mentions major religions of the world. His efforts and hard work is recognized and awarded by the president of India. Soon Shanti is of marriageable age and Dinanath wants to get her married to Gopalda’s son. When they ask for dowry he is unable to pay and the jewelry given from them turns out to be fake. Gopaldas is furious at this and cancels the marriage. Dinanath dies of shock while Shanti commits suicide.

 

Kundan and his mother are left to fend for themselves. Not knowing any other way, he becomes a dacoit and wants to avenge his father’s and sister’s death. He thus kills Gopaldas’s son and then Gopaldas himself. The film is directed and produced by Sultan Ahmed. The music is composed by Akhtar and the story is written by M Akhtar. The cinematography is by R D Mathur and Sudhin Majumdar. The star cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Shammi Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure, Prem Chopra, Ranjeet, Deepak Parashar, Saeed Jaffrey, Om Shivpuri, Bharat Bhushan, Amrish Puri, Supriya Pathak, Jamuna, Pallavi Joshi and Jayshree Arora.
