Bankelal comes from his small town in Uttar Pradesh to Bombay to start his new business. He eventually starts a business of buffalo cow milk. However soon Bankelal turns into a mafia don and starts ruling the underworld. He lives life fearlessly and does all that he pleases, however there is only one person that Bankelal is petrified of, and that is police inspector Vishal. Vishal has made up his mind of nabbing Bankelal by any means and he has a reputation for doing in the past.
The movie is directed by Sikander Bharti and produced by Lokesh Bali and Sanjay Bali. The music is composed by Rajesh Roshan and the lyrics are written by Anand Bakshi. The singers include Sadhana Sargam, Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik and Vinod Rathod. The star cast includes Naseeruddin Shah, Ayesha Jhulka, Shilpa Shirodkar, Paresh Rawal, Manik Bedi, Inder Kumar, Joginder, Bharat Kapoor, Alok Nath, Aroon Bakshi, Arun Bali, Gurbachan, Arjun and Priya Arora.
