Deepak and Seema fall in love and want to get married. Deepak a lawyer asks for her hand in marriage and her father reluctantly agrees. He however wants Seema to go abroad and complete her law studies for 3 years. She refuses but on Deepak’s insistence she agrees and also plans to marry him after her return. After Seema leaves, her father begins to show his true colors and asks Deepak to leave his daughter alone but he is adamant. Meanwhile his sister Sushma is in love with Ajit and wants to marry him. He on the insistence of Seema’s father harasses Deepak for a hefty dowry. When he is unable to pay such a huge amount he asks Seema’s father to help and he wants him to stay away from Seema in return. He agrees and the marriage takes place. Meanwhile Deepak marries another woman but she dies after giving birth to their son Vicky. Things take an ugly turn when Ajit kills a courtesan and Deepak takes the blame. He gets life imprisonment. Seema then comes to know what her father has done and promises to take care of Vicky. When he grows up he is not told who is father is and thinks that Seema is his real mother. The film is directed by Ambrish Sangal, and produced by Shyam Sunder Shivdasani. The music is composed by Khayyam. The star cast includes Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon, Om Shivpuri and Shashi Kiran
