Viren, played by Rajit Kapur is a renowned heart surgeon living with his wife Sanjana, played by Konkana Sen Sharma and their 7 year old daughter Anishka. Viren has been awarded the prestigious award for his contribution in medicine and leaves for New Delhi to receive the award. He also promises to be back in time to celebrate his daughter’s birthday. But things go horribly wrong when Anishka gets kidnapped by unknown assailants and Sanjana is kept under house arrest by a mysterious man named Krish, played by Irrfan Khan.
He instructs the husband and wife to do as they are told if they want to see their daughter alive. Meanwhile Krish’s partner is Roohi, played by Sandhya Mridul who keeps Viren hostage in his hotel room. Their third partner named Kabir has kept Anishka at a remote unknown location. They all coordinate with each other and set the ransom to Rs. 3 Crores. Viren and Sanjana are given a 24 hour deadline to arrange for the ransom. Viren mortgages all that he can even gives up his dream hospital project and somehow manages to get Rs 3 Crore. The kidnappers not only take their money and also Anishka and flee. Viren and Sanjana are now panicking and horrified. Later they realize that the kidnappers wanted revenge as they wanted to prove a point to Viren that he has been too money minded giving little consideration for his patients. Anishka is returned and so is their money.
