Dharam Karam is a 9175 film directed by Radhir Kapoor who also stars in the film. Produced by Raj Kapoor this film has a star cast of Rekha, Premnath and Dara Singh besides Randhir Kapoor.
The story is of a gangster who thinks he can change his destiny. Shankar (Premnath) lives with his pregnant wife Kanta and does small crimes for his living. He is blessed with a male child but does not want his child to take his wrong path. He decides to swap his child secretly with the son of a wealthy singer, Ashok Babu (Raj Kapoor). But destiny plays a big role in bringing up the two boys in two different environments and what they are destined for cannot be changed is the storyline with the they inevitably collide with their fathers as Dharam ( Randhir Kapoor) who is actually Ashok Babu’s son but raised as a son by Shankar still is drawn to music like his father , while his own son Ranjeet ( Narendranath) raised well by Ashok Babu in an environment of music and away from the crime world, still takes on to the underworld. Will Shankar succeed in saving his son and at what cost ?. The film had some very melodious songs that became very popular.
