Pandit Chaturvedi, played by Pankaj Kapoor is a well respected Brahmin priest from Benares. His daughter Vedika, played by Ananya Tripathi finds an abandoned baby and brings him home. Her mother Parvati too seems very fond of the baby and request Pandit to adopt him. After much though he agrees to adopt him and keep him in his house. The family gets very attached to the little boy as he is growing up. However, their joy is short-lived when the biological mother of the child comes to take him.
The boy’s mother tells them that he was lost during the communal riots. Pandit is even more shocked to find out that the boy is born to Muslim parents and is a Muslim by religion. Pandit hands over the boy to his rightful parents and gets into a purification process of his mind, body and soul due to being in contact with a Muslim boy. However, the boy reappears in their life when he comes to take refuge in Pandit’s house due to Hindu-Muslim riots. He has a change of heart and realizes that the true meaning of religion isn’t just preaching, but practicing humanity and brotherhood more than anything else.
The movie is directed by Bhavna Talwar and produced by Varun Gautam and Vibha Singh. The star cast includes Pankaj Kapoor, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Supriya Pathak, Pankaj Tripathi, K.K Raina and Daya Shankar Pandey.
