Sahir, played by Aamir Khan loses his father Iqbal Khan, played by Jackie Shroff at a young age, when he commits suicide due to the inability to pay the loan for ‘The Great Indian Circus’ that he owns in Chicago, Illinois. Sahir grows up to take revenge from the bank and becomes an expert bank robber. He raids various branches of the Western Bank of Chicago in the US. The police fail every time to nab him. Officer Jai, played by Abhishek Bachchan and his partner Ali, played by Uday Chopra are called in to help solve the case. At one of their heists Jai shoots Sahir in the shoulder before he vanishes.
Sahir has a huge opening for the revamped ‘The Great Indian Circus’. He showcases a trick along with a female acrobat Aaliya, played by Katrina Kaif of disappearing and then reappearing elsewhere. Jai and Ali meanwhile reach the opening of the circus and figure that Sahir is the thief and the evidence if the gunshot wound on his shoulder. On nabbing him, they find no wound. It turns out that Sahir has a twin brother Samar who helps him accomplish the robberies and he was the one shot by Jai.
Samar is autistic and kept indoors mostly but taken out once a week. During this time out Jai manages to befriend him and learns that Samar loves Aaliya and this can cause a rift between the brothers. One day Sahir disguises himself as Samar and Jai reveals his true identity to him. Sahir in a fit of rage due to his brother being taken advantage of by jai, ties Jai to a rollercoaster but Ali saves him just in time. They decide the only way to nab them is to catch them red handed during their thefts. But after their last robberies, Sahir and Samar jump off the cliff and die before being caught by the police.
The movie is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Pritam.
