Alka, played by Sara Khan is a modern and independent 23 year old girl, living in New York and studying Architecture. She is pampered and has her head in the clouds due to the privileged life she has lived. She wishes to marry her American boyfriend Ralph and settle in the US itself. After completing her studies, Alka flies back to India to see her parents. Her father Nityanand, played by Mohan Joshi is a top politician and Alka has no interest in politics at all. Her father is strictly against her dating an American guy but her mother and brother support her.

Meanwhile, Alka falls in love with a middle class guy who is part of her father’s political party and her brother Abhishek falls for Nandini who’s also from a middle class background. Their father Nityanand only sees his political and financial gain and thus rejects both their love partners. Later he announces Abhishek’s marriage to an industrialist’s daughter. Humiliated Nandini’s father arranges her marriage to a guy called Gopal. In an accident Gopal later is killed and Nandini’s father accuses Abhishek for it. Nandini and her father leave town and Abhishek gets married to a girl Gauri.
