Veera, played by Rani Mukerji, is from a small village and loves playing cricket and aspires to be a big cricket player some day but for now she is working at a nautanki as a dancer with Shanno. Meanwhile Rohan, played by Shahid Kapoor is the captain of the cricket team in England. His father Vicky tricks him into coming to India and captaining the match for the ‘Aman Cup’. Rohan begins auditions to form his team, where Veera tries to audition but is refused because only males are allowed.
Veera then disguises herself as Veer and get selected in the team. One day Rohan catches Veera in the changing room and she pretends to be Veer’s sister. They become friends and Rohan falls in love with Veera, thinking she is Veer’s sister. Finally the day of the big match arrives where the team will play at Lahore’s Gaddafi stadium. While the match is in progress Rohan comes to know that Veer is Veera and gets upset and Veera leaves the match. Later on seeing that the team needs her she is brought back and they win. She later shows her true identity of being a woman to all the people in the stadium and talks about how women should also be given equal opportunity to show their talents.
The movie is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Aditya Chopra. The story and screenplay is written by Aparajita and the music is composed by Pritam.
