Kamal, played by Anil Kapoor is a businessman who is going through financial trouble and lives with his wife Neelam who he constantly quarrels with. He has a daughter Ayesha, played by Priyanka Chopra and son Kabir, Played by Ranvir Singh. Ayesha is unhappily married to Manav, played by Rahul Bose and Kabir aspires to be a pilot someday.
Neelam and Kamal decide to organize a cruise on their wedding anniversary inviting close friends and relatives. Among the guests is Lalit Sood, played by Parmeet Sethi who has a daughter Noorie, played by Ridhima Sud. Kamal and Neelam plan to get Kabir married to Noorie with Lalit investing in his business to revive it. They also invite the Khanna’s who are enemies of the Sood family. They have a son Rana who sees Noorie on the cruise and is besotted by her.
Kabir meets a dancer called Farah and starts dating her. Although his parents would like him to marry Noorie. Noorie on the other hand starts dating Rana and lies to her parents that she is dating Kabir. Ayesha’s marriage troubles escalate when her parents pressurize her to have a child with Manav. She tells her parents she wants to divorce Manav but Kamal get furious and tells her that’s not an option.
Sunny, played by Farhan Akhtar also comes to the cruise. He is the son of Kamal’s manager and used to date Ayesha some years back but disapproving their relation Kamal sends him off to study abroad. Ayesha accidentally kisses Sunny during an argument and runs. Later Kamal realizes that Ayesha is being mistreated by Manav and agrees to their divorce. Farah learning of Noorie and Kabir’s engagement leaves but later they unite. Noorie and Rana also finally unite. The movie is directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
