It is a thriller drama film. Do Anjaane was a big box office hit, was remade in Telugu (1979) and in Kannada (1987).
The film starts with a flash back when Amit ( Amitabh Bachchan) is found wounded on the railway tracks and he has lost his memory. He lives with a wealthy couple who have adopted him as their son. He is now named Naresh Dutta. Over a period of time he starts regaining his lost memory when he watches the actress Sunita Devi, he discovers that she is none other than his wife Rekha.

He recalls his actual name was Amit Roy and Ranjit his best friend encourages Rekha to join the film line and they get close to each other.. One day when the three of them are travelling by train Ranjit attempts to kill him by throwing him off a speeding train. He survives that accident. His young son is now 10 years old and has been sent to a boarding school. He decides to take revenge on Ranjit but not before teaching his wife a lesson. He disguises himself as a producer of films and approaches Ranjit and Rekha. Ranjit is now Rekha’s manager. Rekha and Ranjit both suspect him as he has a strong resemblance to her supposedly deceased husband Amit. Will she discover the truth behind the producer and his offer to her in his films ? The film ends on a good note. A film that got very popular for the star pair, songs and the story was a super hit too.
