Inderjit, played by Akshaye Khanna is brought up in a wealthy household and lives a happy-go-lucky life. Even though his parents would really like to see him married and settled, he decides to study in another city and live with his friends. Soon he meets a beautiful and vivacious girl called Pallavi, played by Jyothika. She too falls for him but what Inderjit doesn’t know is that, she has three over-protective brothers. When they come to know of their little sisters affair they dislike Inderjit for no valid reason and warn him to stay away.
Pallavi and Inderjit left with no choice, elope. Soon they begin to feel guilty and miss their families. Reluctantly they come back to their family and their family not only accepts them back but also their love. The movie is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Xavier Marquis. The music is composed by A R Rehman and the lyrics are written by Mehboob. The star cast includes Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, Tej Sapru, Ninad Kamat, Umesh Shukla, Suresh Menon, Mohnish Bahl, Viju Khote, Darshan Bagga, Nandu and Aruna Irani.
