The movie is based during the period of 1901 and 1956, where the life of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is brought forward as a great social reformer. He was born into an untouchable community and is known to be the first to be a graduate in his community. When he goes to New York, USA, his main aim is to study and not be part of any rallies or political debates. When Babasaheb interacts with his peer and teachers about the Afro-American rights and Human rights, the reformer inside him begins to take birth. While Gandhiji was fighting for freedom from the British rule, Babasaheb was against the Upper Caste Hindus for their ideologies.

Even though Gandhi and Ambedkar’s ideologies clash the former respects the ideas of the latter and thus suggests that he becomes the Law Minister, when Nehru is the Prime minister. He then renounces Hinduism and adopts Buddhism, while millions of untouchables find an alternative religion to look up to.

The movie is directed by Jabbar Patel and produced by Madan Ratnaparkhi, under the production banner of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The star cast of the movie includes Mammoothy, Mohan Gokhale, Sonali Kulkarni, Mrinal Kulkarni, Govind Namdev, Anjan Srivastava, Rahul Solapurkar, Tirlok Malik, Sunil Sinha, Ma Jivan Mary and Alisa Bosschaert. The music of the film is composed by Amar Haldipur. The story of the film is written by Arun Sadhu and Sooni Taraporevala. The cinematography is written by Ashok Mehta.
