The Play House, was a well respected and renowned building during its time for great plays and theatrical acts. But after the plays stopped and the building got vacated by the artists, the buildings name was changed to The Pila House, a place where prostitutes put up their wares. There were women who were forced to sell their bodies for money, others were doing it to make ends meet, while others were forced to do it as they didn’t have any other place to go to. Faced by many challenges and sacrifices the women of Pila House carried forward their business and lured wealthy men to buy their bodies.
Among all the desperate call girls and skin hungry men, comes the elegant Kasturibai from Banaras. She didn’t want to be just another prostitute but a classy one and thus decides to take English language classes from a man called Masterji. Evetually Kasturibai and Masterji fall in love and elope. A boy named Madhav who sells tea, helps Kasturibai get a red saree for her big day and even drop her to the place he asked to meet her to get married. Sadly nothing is what it seems, the truth is ugly and brutal for Kasturibai.
The movie is directed and produced by Iqbal Durrani. The music is composed by A R Rahman and the cinematography is by Hasan Khan.
