Bablu, played by Shahrukh Khan is a naïve and honest man, who aspires to be a chef. He is the apple of his mother’s eyes. After a lot of struggle he lands a job at a top restaurant and later falls in love with the manager Sonia, played by Juhi Chawla. Meanwhile in another place Bablu’s look-a-like Manu is a notorious criminal who escapes from jail and kills people. One day when Bablu is out with Sonia, the police arrest him thinking he is Manu. Bablu then proves his real identity and Manu hears him. He then kills Bablu and takes his place. He gains the trust of his family and friends but no one knows whether it is Manu or Bablu.
The movie is directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Yash Johar. The star cast includes Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Sonali Bendre, Mohnish Bahl, Tiku Talsania, Sharat Saxena, Rana Jung Bahadur, Gulshan Grover, Naresh Suri, Farida Jalal and Kajol. The music is composed by Anu Malik and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar. The cinematography is by Sameer Arya.
