Dharam Das is a doting brother and arranges her marriage to Din Dayal, who he thinks will be perfect for his sister. Din Dayal agrees to the marriage but on the wedding day, he shows his true colors and asks for a hefty amount as dowry for marrying Dharam’s sister. When they are unable to put together such an exorbitant amount, Din Dayal leaves the mandap and returns home to marry another woman. Dharam’s sister is unable to bear this humiliation and kills herself. Seeing this tragedy, their father passes away. Dharam now wants revenge from Din Dayal and his family at any cost. Years later Din Dayal has a daughter Gulab and she falls in love with Dharam’s son Kamal. The young couple decide to get married but when Din comes to know about the girl’s family he refuses to let his son go ahead. After a lot of convincing, he changes his mind and the marriage takes place. On the wedding night however, Kamal is nowhere to be found. Dharam takes this opportunity and asks Din Dayal for a hefty dowry, and all the old wounds are revisited. When the latter is unable to pay, Dharam warns him that he will get his daughter
a divorce and get her remarried to Madan. The film is directed by Jagdish Sadhana and produced by Abdul Sattar. The music is composed by Chand Pardesi. The star cast includes Farooque Sheikh, Deepti Naval, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Girish Karnad.
