Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is coming of age romantic comedy film directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar. Screenplay is by Dhar and Shellly Chopra and Gazal Dhaliwal. A film inspired from the novel A Damsel in Distress by P.G. Woodhouse.
Starring in the film are Anil Kapoor , Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Juhi Chawla in a cameo role. Featuring in the film is also Regina Cassandra in the supporting role along with Akshay Oberoi, Seema Pahwa, Brijendra Kala and Alka Kaushal .
The film is a first time collaboration between a real life father and daughter essayed by Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles. It also marks the debut of the beautiful Regina Cassandra.
The film received mixed reviews due to its content that is still a taboo in the Indian society. Sweety Chaudhary(Sonam Kapoor) a young and a very pretty Punjabi daughter of an over enthusiastic successful business man Balbir Chaudhary. Like every father he wants to see her married and settled. However, Sweety harbours a closed secret since her childhood. She is a lesbian and in love with another woman . The girls keep their secret under wraps for the fear of not being accepted in their family or in the society . Sweety’s Lesbian love angle in the film is the debutante Regina Cassandra who plays the rule of Kuhu in the film. Rajkummar Rao who actually is in love with Sweety realizes she is not to be blamed for the way she is born with the instincts , becomes a catalyst in making her family and the society in general to accept their relationship.
The film was a huge hit and touched 43.95 crore. A film worth watching . Sonam has done a brilliant act and so has her father the veteran actor Anil Kapoor as always .
