Rahul, played by Imran Khan is an architect who is always forced into perfection by his dominating father and socialite mother. He is frustrated at their high expectations of him and when he loses his job as an architect in Vegas, he refuses to tell his parents and quietly searches for another job. Unable to find another job his mental state goes fragile and thus he sees a psychologist. There he bumps into another patient called Riana, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan.
A series of funny and chaotic events makes them good friends and they go out on a night of drinking and dancing. In their intoxicated condition, the two mistakenly get married. Shocked at their immaturity the next day they decide to get the marriage annulled. The two get to know each other better in the course of the next couple of days. Rahul ends up falling in love with Riana but she doesn’t reciprocate. She invites him to come along with her to India during their Christmas vacations and he reluctantly agrees. His feelings for her grow after she introduces him to her entire family.
One day Rahul tries to kiss Riana but she is surprised and he realizes that she doesn’t have the same feelings for him and he leaves upset, where he bumps into his mother. He explains that Riana is just a friend and he is on a research trip to India. Later he musters courage and tells his parents the truth about losing his job and goes and apologizes to Riana. They decide to remain good friends. The movie is directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar and Ronnie Screwvala. The music is composed by Amit Trivedi.
