The story of this movie revolves around humility, pride, morality and dictatorship. The predicament faced by kings and queens when their empires fall. A king who always loved his people and did everything in his power to maintain peace and justice throughout died heartbroken, when he was separated from them. The queen too not compromised on her faith and beliefs and worked for the betterment of her people.
With the merger of various princely states with the Indian Union after India’s independence left several kings and queens questioning their identity and reigns. It was a tough scenario to let it pass by since many of these rulers considered their subjects as their very own children, and were left in the lurch. One such doomed monarch was Maharaja Jivajirao Scindia of Gwalior, played by Vinod Khanna.
Maharaja Jivajirao’s wife was Vijaya Raje, played by Hema Malini was left at the mercy of a political party, after the premature death of her husband. Her son decided to join forces with people of the wrong ideology and does couldn’t come to terms with it. There was a huge conflict between mother and son thus diminishing their relationship. Vijaya never bowed down to the dark forces her son was fighting for. Thus, in the end only truth and true human values come out victorious.
The movie is directed by Gul Bahar Singh and produced by Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Smirit Trust. The music is composed by Chandan Roy Chaudhury and Hirju Roy.
