Zooni, played by Kajol is a blind Kashmiri girl living with her parents. She travels to New Delhi with her friends to perform at a Republic Day concert. On her way she meets Rehan, played by Aamir Khan who is their tour guide and constantly flirts with her. Despite her friends protests about him, Zooni falls in love with Rehan. They both spend the night together and make love. The next day Rehan takes Zooni with him to get married. Her parents arrive too to attend the wedding but before that she has an eye surgery to see again. Unfortunately after Zooni comes out of surgery she gets the terrible news of Rehan been killed in a bomb blast.
Later it is learned that the bomb blast was done by Rehan who is a part of an independent Kashmiri organization. He faked his death so Zooni wouldn’t come looking for him. Although he truly loves her he can never see her again because of his risky job. Seven years later Rehan is on another mission and he gets injured during a shoot out. He takes refuge in an isolated hosue and it turns out to be that of Zooni’s. She has been living there with their son who was born after Rehan’s death news came. He then tells her the truth and she and her father save him. Later the special agent Tyagi, played by Tabu is assigned to nab Rehan. He tells Zooni that they will kill her and their son and tries to shoot her but she shoots him fatally and he dies in her arms.
The movie is directed by Kunal Kohli and produced by Aditya Chopra. The music is composed by Jatin-Lalit.
