Fanney Khan a musical emotional film with a few comic scenes written and directed by debutant Atul Manjrekar. Jointly produced by the banners T.Series Films, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra Pictures and Anil Kapoor Films & Communication Network.
The film is a remake of the Belgian film, ‘Everybody’s Famous’ wherein Anil Kapoor plays the titular character, a middle aged father of a young and aspiring overweight teenager who aspires to be a singer. In a bid to get his daughter a break in the music industry and make her a star, Fanney Khan kidnaps the famous soloist musician Baby Singh played by Aishwarya Rai. He seeks Aishwarya Rai’s help to get her daughter a break.
Fanney Khan is willing to go to any length to fulfil his dreams through his daughter. He takes law in his hands by not only kidnapping the famous and popular Baby Singh but by condition that he lays that instead of Baby Singh, his daughter Lata Sharma will sing at the reality show India Ki Awaaz and if she is not allowed to sing he threatens to kill Baby Singh. His daughter Lata performs at the reality show India Ki Awaaz, stuns the audience and she becomes famous that evening and Fanney Khan surrenders for his action but the Cops and the Television men rejoice and applaud him while a video is also later released in which Baby Singh and her lover Aadhir are on a vacation and both state they are fans of Lata Sharma. The film ends with Fanney Khan seeing his dream come true to make his daughter Lata Sharma a singer.
