Bharat, played by Akshaye Khanna is a bank cashier but likes to play the role of Hanuman in a local Ramleela play as a part time job. His wife Nisha, played by Shriya Saran is a school teacher and is annoyed by him not being promoted to a manager till now from a cashier. The couple lives with Bharat’s father Shivnarayan and an uninvited houseguest Amita, played by Mugdha Godse who works at a call center. He usually drops her off to work on her insistence.
Bharat now wants to graduate in his Ramleela play from Hanuman to Lord Ram, much to the chagrin of his wife Nisha. This ambition has put him at loggerheads with Sattu, who plays the role of Lord Ram with bad acting skills. Sattu is MLA Manku’s younger brother, who also has an issue with Bharat’s attitude. One day out of the blue, a hawaldar comes to Bharat’s house with a small time criminal and claims he has stolen a fan from his house. Unaware, Bharat then is forced to go to court and go through a bizarre hearing where the judge seems lazy, witnesses phased out and many strange characters.
Bharat ends up bribing almost everyone from the witness, lawyers to even the judge to get justice in the twisted system of law that we seem to follow. The movie is directed by Rumi Jafrey and produced by Nitin Manmohan. The music is composed by Anu Malik.
